Teen Tech Week 2018

Teen Tech Week is when libraries make the time to showcase all of the great digital resources and services that are available to help teens succeed in school and prepare for college and 21st century careers.

This week, celebrate the Teen Tech Week with the theme “Libraries are for Creating.”

This year’s theme encourages teens to take advantage of all the great digital tools offered through the library to become content creators, and to leverage library resources to share out their creations, whether they be podcasts, videos, apps, games, wearable tech, or some other fabulous invention or creation! Here are resources to support that creation:

Students as Creators: Exploring Multimedia

Students are introduced to the genre of multimedia presentations through a review and analysis of online presentations. They then apply what they have learned to create their own multimedia presentations.

Students as Creators: Exploring Copyright

This lesson gives students the tools they need to consider the ethical issues surrounding use and ownership of copyrighted materials.

Create Trading Cards for Favorite Characters

Use the online Trading Card Creator tool to have students make cards describing their favorite characters from the books on their reading list.

Soundtrack for My Life

In this project, teens create autobiographies, adding music selections to their life stories.

Animate that Haiku!

Following the traditional form of the haiku, students publish their own haikus using Animoto, an online web tool to produce slideshows that blend text and music.

How will you recognize Teen Tech Week?
