Resolution on Sexism in Advertising

Background

Many companies (for example, airline, liquor, and cosmetics) continue to emphasize advertising which offers derogatory visual or verbal images which demean women. Be it therefore

Resolution

Resolved, that the National Council of Teachers of English Executive Committee direct the Committee on Public Doublespeak to explore the problems and issues of sexism in advertising and recommend appropriate action.
