• The PARCC assessments
  are dominating all conversations in New Jersey. The NJDOE has announced
  
  that the PARRC will not count
  toward HS graduation for
  at least the next two years. (SAT/ACT/WRITEPLACER will do,
  despite recent stats about
  those tests
  .) Lots of income for ETS before it becomes all Pierson,
  all the time.
  

• Many SGOs in New Jersey will focus on improving student interactions
  with nonfiction and informational text,
  as per the PARCC and the
  standards.
  Teachers are concerned about the unfixed nature of the SGOs and their impact
  on their evaluations. PD in teaching supported by the standards is often
  a patchwork process. There are many online resources,
  but this is one of the best!
