Interesting to some would be the required assistance from “outside entities” if schools reach “Needs Improvement Priority” status. There are currently 38 of these in our state.

In short, 200 schools moved from “Achieving” to “Needs Improvement.” Ironically, and on a qualitative note, I’ve found that schools I’ve worked with have waited to move forward with CCSS due to worry over the flexibility results (their current state test really matters this spring due to this report).

Interested persons can watch the state’s commissioner of education share that the “Needs Improvement” schools is the largest category, but he ensures audiences that these schools “are not failing schools.” The growth/performance level of “TAGG” populations wasn’t met in these schools.
